~ Author Interview ~

Shadow of Wrath was originally a 5 piece short story, what made you compile it?

I actually wrote it as a complete story, and then split it into five parts. I wanted the readers to be able to read the first part free for themselves, and then decide if they wanted to continue on with the story. Since then, I've actually taken off the individual parts and have the full story for sale, just because it made the most sense. I did like the individual covers though =P

What was your inspiration for Shadow of Wrath?

I was actually working on another book at the time, Awake the Ghosts, which is a continuation of Shadow of Wrath. I realized I needed to expand the history of the world I was creating in Awake the Ghosts, and it was far too much story to cram into a single book. Thus I wrote Shadow of Wrath as a prelude of sorts. Shadow of Wrath is a complete stand alone book, but for those that want to explore more of this world (and some of the characters), make sure to check out my next book, available late 2013.

If you were stranded in an Island and could only have one of your characters accompany you, who would it be and why?

That would have to be Allegra. She's a strong, smart and caring individual, not to metion she's the only person who doesn't have innocent blood on their hands. I would hate to sleep with one eye open constantly.

You are personally thrown into the Arena, what would be your Survival Tips to stay alive?

Hmm, that's a tough question, seeing as how I'm not brawler. I guess the first thing I'd recommend anyone to do is act like a lunatic. Make the other person afraid of you and your unpredictablity. Start beating your chest and howling at your opponent while speaking in tongues. And then when they're confused, go in for the kill. Hmm..I wonder if this strategy translates for my soccer team….

You can only bring 3 personal effects prior to entering the Arena, what would you bring?

I'd bring a tank, full body armor, and a bazooka.

Of course, none of those are currently my personal effects. If it's limited to something that I currently own, I guess it would have to be my nail gun, my snowboard (which I think can make a pretty decent shield), and my iphone, just because I'm a slave to Mac products, and there may be an App to get me out of this sticky situation.

You read fairytales when you were younger and made your own interpretations, what is your favourite fairy tale?

Definitley Jack the Giant Killer. That guy is to giants what Dexter is to bad guys. Too bad the movie didn't get great reviews…

Your quite the traveler, what's your favourite country and why?

Gosh, such a tough question. It's too dificult to choose just one.

My top 3 would definitely be Germany (Munich in particular), Cambodia (Angkor Wat), and Italy (Florence).

The reason for all three is the same, I was with or met awesome people.

Your Top 3 travel tips that you've learnt to be effective over the years you've traveled.

1) Don't look like a tourist. This is more of a safety thing than anything. If you look like a tourist or act like a tourist, you're just opening yourself up to trouble, especially in places like Europe and parts of Asia.

2) Spend at least one of the days in a foreign country talking to locals and meeting other people. You'll discover so much more culture, and even get invited to some pretty wicked parties. (Make sure you're always with a group of locals though, and never go off with a stranger by yourself).

3) Live for the moment. There's so much wonder and inspiration in the world out there, and when you're in a different place, remember to take in that moment and enjoy every second of it.

One of the greatest feelings in the world was when I was sitting at the top of Monserrat Mountain in Spain, eating a ham sandwhich. Everything about that moment in time was perfect: the freshness of the air, the beautiful sceneary, the peace and tranquility, the amount of mustard in my sandwhich. I often think about that moment a lot and I'm so thankful that I took the time to sit there and enjoy it.

Are you able to provide any sneak peak info into your new project; Sins of the 7 Series?

Definitely!

I actually have two projects on the go at the moment, the first being Awake the Ghosts, the first book in the Sins of 7 series.

The story revolves around Noah, a bastard, who encounters the ghosts of several teens, murdered by a serial killer that steals the face of his victims. To his horror, he discovers that their pasts are linked somehow and it's up to Noah to unravel this mystery of his origins in order to stop the killer from murdering someone close to him. P.S. Noah fails.

At the same time, I'm working on a novella entitled City of Indeceny which I describe as a sexy version of Lost involving superpowers, witchcraft, paganistic rituals, and some erotic thrills. This is geared more towards the New Adult crowd, so if you're into that type of thing, make sure you check it out.

You can receive updates to all my stories by joining my email list, click here

P.S., if you join the list, I'll also throw in a free ebook, a complilation of short stories I wrote including an emotionally damaged fairy tale starring Snow White =P

Your not only a writer, your also a reader, what books are in your TBR (To Be Read) pile?

My stack of books is insane. On my pile I've got:

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie
Revival (The Variant Series) by Jen Leigh
A Contract of Defiance by Tammy Sayler

Synopsis

In the Arena, you're either a killer or a victim.

If survival meant murdering an innocent person in cold blood every week, could you do it? Are you able to stick the knife into your opponent's heart while they look at you with fear in their eyes? Life in the Arena turns everyone into sinners.

A homeless boy is kidnapped from the streets and finds himself imprisoned in a far more horrifying place: The Arena, a place where teenage boys fight to the death for the pleasure of various lowlifes.

The Arena is the brainchild of Ryker, an ex-convict addicted to alcohol, gladiatorial-esque combats, and money. When not devising new ways for boys to kill each other, he’s ruling his small empire with a ruthless fist, rewarding his guards with sex slaves and punishing those who oppose him with barbaric executions.

Renamed Dog, the boy from the street proves to be an excellent fighter and finds himself surviving week after week, but as he leaves a trail of bodies in his wake, the ghosts of slain boys haunt him and the violence threatens to wake a beast inside him.

Allegra, a slave girl in the Arena and a victim of Ryker's constant abuse, is his only key to salvation. She has lost everything already -- her family, her innocence, and her dignity -- while her will to live hangs on by a thin thread. Can she save Dog's humanity before she too succumbs to the horrors of the Arena?

Seeking to defy Ryker as Dog rises to power as his champion, the stage is set for something to give in this murderous world of young combatants.

A tale about survival, tragedy, and human perseverance, the Complete SHADOW OF WRATH is the first book in the Sins of the 7 series.
